Meet Our President
of Hospitality

As a college sophomore at Stockton University in New Jersey, Garfield Campbell was hired as a part-time valet at the local resort and country club, Marriott Seaview Golf Resort. While working at this resort, he also completed an internship as a Human Resources Clerk. “My goal was to take my schooling to the next level by completing this internship and pursue a post-graduate degree in Psychology. However, when I graduated, I was recruited into the Marriott Management Training Program. The rest, as they say, was history”, says Garfield.

Positive communication is important and very necessary in all organizations. The better-informed team members are, the more proficient at their job they become. Garfield believes that everything communicates, meaning, even the unspoken and the way we treat each other all sends a clear message. “One of the qualities that I look for in a team member is the ability to collaborate, to do this, one must be a good listener, open to new ideas, see the value in respecting other team member’s point of view”, Garfield mentions. What drives him to succeed and achieve his goals and objectives is a simple quote he was once told by his father. “I can vividly remember his saying, ‘If you are a street sweeper, be the best street sweeper you can be because the dignity is in the work’,” replied Garfield. His father always told him to that whatever it is that he is doing, do it to the best of his abilities. While his parents may be gone, their teachings still live on in him.

Now that his children are out on their own, two of his favorite things to do when he is not in the office, is traveling with his wife and playing golf. Golf provides him with a consistent challenge and travel allows him the opportunity to be fully immersed in new and different cultures. “Being able to compete against myself, the diversity of challenges and the ability to be at one with nature makes golf one of my favorite ways to unwind. Traveling gives me a different perspective and fills me with wonder. The ability to relax, recharge, and connect with family are added bonuses,” Garfield says. His role is comprised of putting team members needs first, answering their questions, and helping them be their best. Garfield knows when he accomplishes this goal, the A&R Group is a stronger more empowered team that will be more committed to the mission.

"Helping others who have the drive and desire to grow is one of my greatest passions. Talent is sometimes in short supply so, to achieve a distinctive competitive advantage over your competition, one must have the right talent at every level of the organization. When we can develop talent from within our organization, we communicate a powerful message to the rest of our team; that we are a meritocratic organization that invests in our people."

President of A&R Hospitality
